On Monday, May 19th, Pope Leo XIV held a meeting with religious leaders at the Vatican following The Solemn Mass of the inauguration of his Pontificate. Addressing Muslim leaders, he said:

Relations between the Catholic Church and Muslims have been marked by a growing commitment to dialogue and fraternity, fostered by esteem for these our brothers and sisters who "worship God, who is one, living and subsistent, merciful and almighty, the Creator of heaven and earth… The witness of our fraternity, which I hope we will be able to show with effective gestures, will certainly contribute to building a more peaceful world, something that all men and women of good will desire in their hearts.
